(More customer reviews)I went back and forth for a long time prior to choosing Skyports over PocketWizards. The primary reason - cost (half the cost to be precise). I typically purchase top-of-the-line products for my bread-and-butter gear (which would mean I should purchase the PocketWizards), but for most users in most scenarios, the Skyports are just as good, if not better (check out specs between the two) than the PocketWizards. The PocketWizards can trigger lights up to 1500 feet, but let's be realistic. How many of you have ever needed to trigger anything that far (I'm sure some of you have, but it's so rare that it hardly can be considered a true value add for the average user). Also, the Skyports are significantly smaller and doesn't get in the way like PocketWizards, and as far as general build quality is concerned, both brands feel somewhat cheap. I feel like radio triggers are in general overpriced for the technology that they utilize, so why not get the less overpriced "premium" brand.
BUT, if you are more interested in fashionable photography products or if you are a professional who really needs to stretch the limits of a trigger, go for the PockeWizards. They are the industry standard. Otherwise, save your money and spend it on more important things.
Also, like others have noted, the reason the first poster coulnd't sync at anything above 1/250th of a second is because his camera's top sync speed was probably 1/250th of a second (eg. my D200's top sync speed is 1/250th of a second).

About a week later I went to her house to see the frame with wedding pictures. About six pictures in the frame just stopped and showed vertical lines only. She turned it off and back on and all she sees are vertical lines. Also there is no off/on for the music. You just have to turn it down to stop the music.

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras Review

(More customer reviews)I have a Nikon D200 body and both Sigma APO 70-300 as well as Nikon 70-300 (non-ED) lenses. I tested both these lenses at f4 and f10 apartures and at 70mm, 200mm and 300mm focal lengths. The camera was on a tripod, mirror lockup was used and tripod/camera were not moved at all during lens changes for perfect apples-to-apples comparison. Identical sources of ambient light and identical flash settings were used for both lenses. Here are my conclusions:
It was very difficult to determine which lens was sharper between the two even when blown up to large picture sizes. The colors on the pictures taken by Sigma were a little bit more appealing but again only when looked at under lot of scrutiny. The depth of field on Sigma was shallower at f4 vs the Nikon which is both good (for portraits) and bad (for non-portrait pictures). Sigma always produced brighter pictures compared to Nikon lens but that can be compensated by always over-exposing the Nikon. I can say safely that a picture taken by the Nikon with one stop higher exposure is comparable to the picture taken by Sigma with Sigma winning by a very small margin only and in terms of color richness only when the pictures are blown up to large sizes.
When you switch the Sigma to macro mode it sort of becomes an apples-to-oranges comparison since the Nikon does not have a macro mode. To make it a fair test I used Nikon's published lowest focusing distance for both Nikon and Sigma lenses and switched the Sigma to macro mode. Sigma was slightly better than Nikon again when put under lot of scrutiny.
CONCLUSION:
I was absolutely thrilled with the closeups that the Sigma took that the Nikon could never have taken since Nikon does not have the macro mode. If taking closeups or macro pictures is not a goal for you, Sigma is only marginally better than Nikon so whether you spend the extra $50 for the Sigma APO or not is up to you. Happy shooting...

I absolutely love this kit! I thought I was gonna get a rather flimsy tripod because of the price, but I needed something immediately and my budget was limited at the time. Boy, was I surprised. Everything one needs is included and fits nicely in this compact arrangement. The on-board level has always been correct and was an unexpected add-on. I carry this kit with me with briefcase and other bags, all in one trip. The only negative aspect is that the zipper on the carry case is lightweight so be careful when zipping over the unit as the zip will separate. Considering the value and utility of this kit, who cares?

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this lens along with the Nikon D50 kit that included the 18-55mm lens.
It does Macro (200-300mm) down to about .95m (3 ft). It does tend to hunt for focus quite a bit using the camera's AF-A setting, but does not when in AF-S, however focus is lost quickly when hand-holding. In this situation I end up using an indoor studio with the camera on a tripod, so I set the focus manually anyway.
The Macro setting allows up to a 1:2 magnification at 300, and about 1:3 at 200mm. This is done by allowing closer focusing than the normal 1.5m (5 ft).
When using Macro, the lens is locked to 200-300mm, and you must focus to the normal range before you can flip the switch and zoom back to under 200mm. This can be a slight problem as the lens DOES NOT have a M/A focusing switch. You must go to manual focusing via the camera, focus to normal range, flip lens macro switch, then you can go back down below 200mm and/or re-engage your autofocus.
I have not had any major problems with this lens, and actually enjoy the pictures that I get from it during sports and other telephoto needed activities. It does need a steady hand at the extreme end during lower light levels because it does not have VR, but for what it is made for I have not had any trouble getting sharp pictures. Just don't use it in low light without a tripod.
Focusing is smooth in the normal mode from 1.5m (5 ft) to infinity and it just under 1/4 turn from lock to lock. (Macro is 1/2 turn)
Zooming is smooth from 70mm to about 200mm, and then bunches up (gets slightly harder to turn) from 200 to 300. It zooms back down smoothly the entire way. It is not internally focusing, so at minimum (70mm at infinity) it is about 5" out from the camera, and at maximum (300mm at 3 ft) it is about 8" long.
It has a manual aperture ring at the base, but for autofocus cameras it recommends leaving it locked at max (f/22). [Since it is a D-model lens, it is made for the DX-sized sensor which is smaller than 35mm, and will have vignetting on 35mm, but all DSLRs are autofocus so why they included this is confusing. Just leave it locked at f/22]
The filter ring is 58mm in size. Includes caps, and cylindrical hood that fits nicely, and stores backward on the lens covering the body during storage. Mine has a matte-black finish, but I've seen regular semi-gloss plastic as well.
If you are on a budget, and want to get into telephoto or Macro photography, this lens is great. It does take a bit to get used to, but for the price, I have been satisfied.

(More customer reviews)I received this picture frame as a gift for buying a 10mm Sigma Fisheye lens por Sony DSLR. It was a 40/50 bucks digital frame which is cheap compared to other solutions that can go up to 250 bucks and even more.
The digital frame is loaded with several features such as music and video playback, alarm and clock. I find those features very nice and interesting. The sound quality is OK, what you can expect from a built-in speaker.
The image quality is not the best. Again, I wasn't expecting the highest quality screen for that price. If you've seen the screen quality of a regular cel phone now you have an idea of how the pictures look in this frame. If you want to display your pictures with fine details and richer colors you need to look for more expensive frames by different brands like HP, Sony or LG. Those brands use better quality screen for their digital frames.
I would recommend this digital frame to people who want to use it from time to time, don't want to spend too much money and don't care if the picture doesn't look exactly as it's seen in the PC or camera screen.

Screws on firm and easy and is removed just as easy. There is an alignment mark on the hood to line up with center marks lenses.
Be careful if the lens you are getting this for rotates at the end. The Nikon 18-55mm kit lens rotates at the front thus, the hood will rotate with it and be a little less effective (a rubber/round hood would be better in this case)

(More customer reviews)Based off of the two reviews I was unsure how good of a lens attachment I would be receiving, but for $7.99 I threw the dice.
I received this lens attachment a few short days after ordering and it screwed onto the front of my 18 to 55mm (D60) lens without any issue. (the lens attachment is made of metal and glass -- it feels good and sturdy).
After taking several photos I noticed that when set to the widest angle possible the corners vignette and get blurred.
For some this might be a complete turn off, for others it might mean that you just found the best accessory to add to your camera bag for eight bucks. When set to just about any setting other than the widest no vignetting is noticable.
I think it's a perfect new toy for anyone willing to experiment with accessories.

(More customer reviews)I bought this lens to complement the 18-55mm lens that came with my D50. The people who criticize this lens certainly have the right to their opinions but I don't feel they are keeping the price of the lens in perspective while reviewing the lens. One can spend thousands of dollars on a single Nikon lens. And to me, the fact that I can get a lens with great optics that's a little slow but is incredibly light for under $200 is nothing short of miraculous. If you would have told someone in 1968 that a lens of this quality would be available for such a low price, they would have laughed. Nikon is indeed the king of making lenses and they had made a lens that allows those that are beginners or who can't afford incredibly high priced lenses the ability to step into a very nice range lens with great optics for a pittance of what professional lenses cost. So what if it's a little slow? If I had the money, I guess I'd be spending $1500 on every lens but the fact is I don't have those resources and appreciate Nikon opening the door and letting me in on the fun too at a very reasonable price for a very reasonable quality lens. For those that dislike this lens, take it back and get a truly great lens for 10 times the price- they're available- no ones' stopping you- so why knock this lens down so badly? It services a certain market- those of us who want nice pictures but can't afford super fast super expensive lenses. These lenses are what they are. Quit all the whining and either just enjoy the lens for what it can do considering it's very low price or go out and buy that expensive lens that does everything you want it to. The super lenses are there for the buying. It's Not like they're not available and this is the only lens out there and Nikon is charging $700 dollars for it. I could understand some whining then. I got this lens on sale for $140. That's incredible. Enjoy this lens for all that it can do for such a reasonable price!
