It did not attach to the Nikon Prostaff digiscope. Only will attach to a fieldscope and will hold a Nikon coolpix camera not a Nikon D100 digital camera.

A well made attractive case, but has a magnetic clasp that easily opens so camera not secure. Should have been velcro or at a minimum, snaps. I have fully extended the camera strap & keep it around my neck when I carry the camera in the case for secuity. I will be looking for a more secure third party case.

This is a very versatile camera and responsive to most needs. It has a good macro range to go along with a super zoom range. It compares well to a Panasonic DMC-GH1 which has a much larger sensor and more expensive optics (the lens alone is twice the price of this Nikon). The Panasonic also produced higher saturation and contrast shots in default mode and this gives the appearance of higher resolution. The Nikon gave a truer auto outdoor color balance and more natural contrast. Even at ISO 800 it was very sharp. You can enlarge a few test shots at the DPReview forums by searching for "Nikon P100 test shots". or if this works: [...]
The two highlights that amazed me were the Nikon's focusing indicator system. It is so cool that when you shoot a bouquet of flowers the display shows you each blossom chosen by the matrix focusing system. You click the shutter with the knowledge that it is choosing what you want. Wonderful. The second highlight is the range of the optics from good macro, nice wide angle, and amazing telephoto. Please see the photos I uploaded showing how well this camera compares. What the Nikon lacks mostly comes down to smooth tones and fine detail at high ISOs; and this is only because it is being compared to a large sensor camera. The images would easily pass a fairly critical viewer on an 8x10 print and seem to be better than previous cameras with this size sensor.
Pros (so far):
Great focus indicator system, Display shows small green squares over selected objects for focus = ready to shoot, red square = not ready
Light, easy to hold good fit to my medium sized hands.
Articulated screen seems more natural than the swing out to the side screens (aligned with lens)
Quick access to shoot videos, focus tracking option, slow motion (lower res 240 fps),
Hugh zoom range and quite fast action, 1½ ++ second end to end
Outdoor sunlight colors quite natural
Very good resolution lens for this price range and favorably compares to much more expensive lenses (see above photos, several are pieces of 16 x 20 prints)
Very good macro versatility (see blowup of portion of terry towel above)
Adequate viewfinder but very contrasty, necessary info in viewfinder.
Cons (so far):
When shooting a video the focus is not able to keep up with the zoom (I reduced my rating because of this).
No RAW image option (less important with tools like Corel Image Adjustment Lab that gives me color temperature correction on jpg)
Lens cap rather than auto protect system, must remember to take it off before turning on camera (your notified when you forget)
Must use the menu system for several settings (ISO, color balance), slower but OK (hats off to the Canon G11, Panasonic)
Fast zoom over big range means it is tricky to accurately crop a shot (same with others though) Would love to see a 'nudge' feature for small changes.
Color balance with my photo fluorescent lights was tricky to dial in
Quick shutter in most situations but not all
No hot shoe for accessories and external flash
Only an adequate viewfinder
Minimum aperture of f8 (standard for cameras in this class, but would love to see it improved)
Screen does not 'self protect'
Must manually switch viewfinder verses LCD, simple one push button though

I went out and shot another 200+ photos this morning.
To keep this review readable I will edit out my rant towards those that posted video reviews within days of the release notice of this camera.
A few more notes on thing I've "discovered" while shooting today.
I shot a couple short vids, used flash, turned off the camera multiple times and allowed it to hibernate many times, zoomed in and out and still the camera showed 1/4 of battery life left. Obviously if you're going to use this in a photo rich environment, carry a spare battery. Always better safe than sorry.
Some reviewers said they couldn't find any usable photos using HDR. I found it more than usable and will attach a couple photos to allow comparison.
I was using a grade 6 SD card today. That is the minimum Nikon recommends. It took approximately 13 seconds for the camera to process an HDR photo and a couple more seconds to write it to the card. Camera continues to show practically no lag time when taking standard shots. Only panoramas and HDR slow things down, with HDR certainly taking the longest. Nikon does have a progress bar that appears across the bottom so you don't think the camera is locked up.
While using full (or near full) zoom and in Auto mode, the camera did a fair amount of searching to focus on an item while in MACRO. Since my previous Lumix TZ5 was less than optimal in low light focusing, I am used to using either PROGRAM or Aperture priority on the Nikon to achieve focus on the intended target.
In what i consider "medium light" the camera refused to allow an aperture setting to maintain an narrow field of focus.
I'm certainly not down-grading my rating of the camera. I like it very much.
Just remember it is not a DSLR. In comparison it has a tiny sensor. There are always trade-offs. I am more convinced that this camera will suit my intended uses very well. The VR at extreme zoom still impresses me, as does the low light sensitivity and noise. Yes, there's noise, even at 560 ISO. It's not distracting however. Wait for the camera geeks to test and publish their data (i.e. dpreview.com) to get the hard statistics. My over all impression still stands and I'm glad I took a gamble and pre-ordered this camera and was on the initial round of deliveries from Amazon.
I have had possession of my P500 for my second evening to this point.
I've gotten to "play" a bit with it and here are my impressions.
Is it "the perfect camera for everyone?" No.
I personally don't believe such and animal exists nor will likely ever. Important factors to one shooter may be a non-factor or possibly a negative to another.
What is important is for each individual consumer (or gift giver)is consider the features that are most important to you.
Quickly summarizing me and my trigger points:
1)Travel friendly; great for nature shots, scenics, wildlife, architecture and has video capabilities. Do a reasonable job of photographing people when I must.
Size wise, very similar form factor (though a bit smaller)than my previous coolpix 8700. (Though nearly 3 times as thick and heavier than it's immediate predecessor, Panasonic's Lumix TZ5) Unless you have large cargo pockets, this is NOT a pocket-able camera. I have large hands and I find it comfortable to work with with controls placed logically and well. I passed the camera to a female co-worker with small hands and she also felt comfortable handling it, though she didn't take any shots with it. Build quality seems very solid, much more "put together" than comparative Canons that at times strike me as "less solid". My only concern at this point is the thumb rest pad on the right side, above the multi-function button may not hold up to long term usage, but it does appear to be inset, not just a "glue on" so may be fine.
Do a search of "Nikon P500 reviews" and look at the plethora of "reviews" that followed the announcement of release back on Feb 9th.
Find one that shows them actually USING the camera and THEIR photos and not displaying shots provided by Nikon. Don't call them "reviews" Call them "release notices" But, I digress.
I got this so I can become comfortable with it for my upcoming trip to Alaska. I will be asking a lot from it. From what I've seen so far, I believe it's up to the task. Some anticipated usage? Panoramas (this one does nice ones very cleanly and simply in both vertical and horizontal directions. It does horizontal in two flavors, 180 and 360 degrees PLEASE NOTE: you can only do the panorama in full wide angle and can not be in any zoom at all ) Catching wildlife in both stills from great distance and capture in slo-motion. Macro shots of flora and fauna. Along with "conventional" shots of points of interest.

Shots that I've taken to this point (right at 80, testing various preset and user/manual modes and extremes of the camera's range have shown me a few things.
Between the Nikkor lens assembly and the internal processing engine barreling and and pin-cushioning at the two extremes is minimal to non-existent to my eye. Some photos do exhibit loss of detail at the corner edges of the frame, nothing serious unless you're blowing your image up.
Under the USER function, you can set up frequently used settings rather than having to sift through menu options to change settings if you have certain effects you use regularly.
Some (a very few)of my shots appear to be slightly over exposed. Adjusting down .3 to .6 seems to please my eye more. It isn't in all shots and all situations, so let your eye be the judge.
The vibration reduction modes (there are two that minimize operator induced blur) seem to be very effective when taking still shots. Think what you're asking this one pound of engineering to do when you're extended out to an effective 800+mm zoom. Did every shot come out crystal clear? No. I had to cull out maybe every 5th or 6th photo. This was free handing it, using the sharp and clear, tilting 3" display and not the EVF, so it was away from my body and more prone to shake.
I have no plans on printing larger than 8x10's I've printed a couple out at that size and am more than pleased with the results. These were photos taken during normal daylight. Lower light photos blown up to that size will show noise.
I haven't run my camera with ISO's over 800 to this point. I'll get out there and push it's limits more this weekend. So far the noise generated by the camera have been well within acceptable limits for me. I wish the aperture was a touch bigger, but at this price point there is always trade-offs. The wide angle is wide, yet not exhibiting fish-eying.
Color rendering seems to pretty good, though I have seen others photos where there were pretty obvious issues when compared to similar full size sensor DSLR photos. I haven't experienced them and what I did see, can be easily corrected with some doctoring in a photo manipulation program.
In the few videos I have shot, the camera's vibration reduction can't cancel all my shake at full or near full zoom. Again, this is all free hand, when I was more cautious or used the EVF, drawing the camera to my head and making for a more stable platform for shooting, things improved dramatically.
Low light focus and flash images is good in the 10-15 photos taken under such conditions. Low light video hasn't been attempted by me to this point.
There is no ability to attach a filter on the lens nor is there a hot shoe. Regarding the filter, I wish I had the option to attach one if i wished, however it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I'm either shooting, or it's hanging down off my neck, on the ready or if I'm done shooting for a few, I snap the tethered lens cover on. Nikon is quiet clear that the cover must be removed before powering up the camera. The camera is very fast in being ready for the first shot. I don't have a stop watch but it's well under 1/2 second from OFF to ready to focus and shoot. There is virtually no lag time between shots unless the camera is stitching together and processing a panorama shot or a few other situations that are clearly outlined by Nikon and I haven't experimented with as of yet. Nikon wants you to use class 6 SD cards or faster, to keep camera write times down and ability to shoot quick.
If I find something compelling this weekend when I'm out putting it through it's paces, I will update this review with more relevant information. Likewise, should you kind readers have questions I can answer, feel free to inquire and I will do my best to respond.
My overall impression is very positive to this point. I wasn't expecting DSLR results in regards to picture quality and flexibility in various shooting conditions. This camera comes closer on both these aspects than I expected; and I'm carrying a LOT less gear and weight.
Nikon really should provide an external battery charger with the kit. In camera charging takes the camera out of use during the process. Otherwise the only other area I see they really missed the mark was by not adding threads to the lens barrel allowing filters/attachments.

Nikon Coolpix L11 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Review

Nikon Coolpix L11 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are some things that Nikon did right with this camera, but mostly they got it wrong. Although I love my Nikon Coolpix 3100 (3 megapixels), some may want to avoid the Nikon Coolpix L11.
First, the good. It takes great pictures and fits into your pocket. OK for snapshots under normal conditions. I also have had some professional quality pics with good color saturation then the light is good. The camera remembers your settings (eg, exposure compensation) after being turned off, meaning you don't need to reset them each time you power up/down.
Now the bad:
1.As one reviewer noted, it does not have a viewfinder, only an LCD monitor. First, powering the LCD screen makes it eat batteries. Next, the LCD screen is useless in bright light because you can't see what's on the screen.
2.Once the camera alerts you that it's turning off after a certain period of non-use (eg, 60 seconds), it takes a long time to actually turn off. And in the meantime, there's nothing you can do to stop it from turning off. Not good it you want to get that great shot.
3.The cycling time between pics is very long. It takes about 1.5 - 2 seconds to recycle and get ready for the next shot.
4.The "multi-selector" (the large round dial in the back that lets you select flash, timer, exposure, and macro settings) is prone to operator error (meaning it's too small and you will select the wrong setting a lot (eg, exposure instead of timer). This means you need to scroll out of the wrong setting, back into the correct setting. Again, a time waster.
5. It can be very noisy (the pictures look grainy) in night pics. The price isn't bad for 6 megapixles, but I suspect the low price is indicative of how much some people don't like this camera. Still, I think it's a three star.

Let's get the facts out first. I've been a Nikon shooter for several decades, currently with a D300 (haven't made the leap yet to full frame, but that's next). I'm an amateur, but shoot at a pro level. My focus is on music and sports photography, and I like to have a good camera with me when I travel (my last ride-along P&S has been a Lumix DMC-TZ5). I shoot in a variety of conditions, but what I need must a) provides high quality images, b) be really portable (fits in my purse, can get into concerts that ban DSLRs unless you're shooting on assignment) c) have a longer lens option (200mm is 'table stakes') and d) provide the flexibility to twiddle the dials to find the best combo of ISO-aperture-shutter speed for a particular situation. Having HD capability is a nice-to-have.
I've been shopping for a new P&S easily for a year. Got interested and then uninterested in the Canon G11/G12/S95 because the lens is too short (even the extenders don't push it out far enough). Similar higher-end P&S cameras don't have the length I was looking for, or didn't fit the size criteria (ruled out the 'super zooms' largely because of this).
Nikon got my attention first with the P100 - but I read about image quality issues. When I learned about the P7000, I was intrigued. Could Nikon overcome its perceived issues and produce a P&S that makes picky photo people happy?
I made the plunge and bought the P7000. After reading a few more reviews and having a burst of post-purchase cognitive dissonance, the best plan was to just take the new acquisition out and A:B it against my D300 and the Lumix in a variety of conditions.
I'm glad I did. First impression: lots of dials to set and menus to learn, so to make it easy I just left it on the 'green' setting and let the camera make the decisions. Immediately it was clear that the Lumix's photo quality wasn't even in the same class as the P7000 (it looked good until you held it up against the others). The P7000's quality should be compared against the DSLR class.
After carrying a DSLR rig around, the P7000 seemed like a featherweight around the neck. Great build quality - solid metal feel. I don't like the AE-L and AF-L button being next to where you thumb is, but my fingers will learn. (Wish there was a wriststrap option that shipped with the camera too.) LOVE the display, and the ability to see the histogram data. Feels like my D300 in many ways.
Now to the images. Shot with the D300 and the P7000 looking up a tree trunk. Depth of field, image clarity and WB were surprisingly similar. Wow. Tried it again in both indoor and outdoor conditions, and saw little to no difference. In fact I preferred the P7000 images several times to the D300 - they looked better. After several hours of shooting both cameras, my post-purchase cognitive dissonance was gone and I am eager to learn more about my new traveling 'friend'.
I do agree with the reviewers who note that the dials and settings aren't particularly intuitive. The instruction manual is about on the scale of a DSLR. It also - for now - lacks the really long lens capability I'm looking for (I believe that Nikon will be introducing accessories soon, including a telephoto extender). I wish that the lens were faster in the lower end, and I wish that Nikon did a better job of removing high ISO noise (this is a criticism for non-full frame Nikon bodies in general; I'm hoping that RAW and post-processing will clean this up). But the advantages of the camera - DSLR-like photo quality, Nikon fit/finish and build, and a longer lens than comparable high-end P&S - make me believe that Nikon is going in the right direction and that this is a break from its previous P&S cameras.
If you don't have size constraints (as I do), buy a DSLR - you will get more in the long run. If you want DSLR-like performance in a P&S, definitely take a look at the P7000.
-------------------------
UPDATE: I've put about 1,000 shots into the camera over the past week, including one day of a music festival where I shot all but maybe 3 shots with the P7000 (see the photos here -[...]data is on). Net: though I still have not figured out the nuances, you can get really good photos out of the camera, but it does require learning how to use its capabilities. It is slower than the DSLR, but not so bad that it gets in the way of getting the shot. The P7000 has developed an issue where the lens cover will not retract completely, which causes the corners of the frame to be shaded. So, this must be sorted out. This is unfortunately not what I expected from Nikon, even in the first release. I'll report back in based upon what I find out, but for now I'm keeping the 5 star rating.
UPDATE (NOV 2010): The camera returned from Nikon in time to take to SFO. Nikon adjusted the shutter (works fine now) and the white balance. Interestingly the shot count was advanced about another thousand, so I trust they took the time to really check it out. I've finally figured out how to do quick aperture/shutter speed adjustments in manual mode, and am finding as I learn its controls and tricks, it's easier and easier to get great shots. I'm amazed at the 'night' setting - never fails to render something really interesting and usable. White balance in this mode has been most impressive - even in darkened rooms and in street shots at night, the photos come out rendered in the right colors, in focus and with plenty of light. I'm keeping the 5-star rating.
UPDATE (Feb 2011): The shutter has not hung up again but the service guy who looked at it last noted that he thought some of the parts were 'worn'. I still really enjoy the camera, but did purchase a 3 year extended warranty. I would recommend that anyone else do the same if they buy it in the near future, up until the time that the reports of the shutter issue die off. I'm attributing it to the initial release of a very new camera design, and there are often things they will improve upon over time. But in contrast, my new D7000 is working like a champ right out of the box, leading me to surmise that their design and manufacturing standards may be higher for their DSLRs than their P&S cameras. Just an observation - does anyone else have a similar experience?
UPDATE (Mar 2011): Spoke with a Nikon person during SXSW who advised me to make sure I had the firmware updates loaded into the camera. Another reviewer commented that it's still in beta - I would tend to believe that. Still enjoying the camera. I did tell him that I am wishing for them to take a great low-light sensor and put it into a P&S footprint, and he noted that pretty much everyone wants that too. Nikon - where is this on your product roadmap? I'll camp out to buy one of these!

i looked all over for this item and when i found them on amazon i was thrilled and immediately ordered it. now i am completely unhappy and disappointed with the product. it doesn't hold a charge. i've charged the batteries for the specified time and put them in my camera 4 different times. the charge holds for 10 minutes tops. maybe it's defective, i don't know. i continue to buy the throwaway batteries which work well. i would not recommend this product to anyone. a waste of money.

I really wanted something to protect my iPod touch while it was in my purse. Just something I could slip it in and out of. I had looked at the cheap versions of the socks, but I was worried they might not be big enough from reading the reviews. Plus I do carry a big purse with lots of stuff floating around. Most of the cases you find for iPod are either back covers or leather flip cases. I really wanted a simple pouch, so I turned to the camera cases. I went through many of the camera cases and some of the dimensions fell just short, except this one. My touch fits snuggly inside, even with the back cover I have on it. I can also keep my headphones in the case too. Since I didn't pay attention to anything in the product details other than the dimensions, I was very happy to find that it has a "stiff front panel". Not only good for a camera's protection, but also perfect for protecting the touch's screen. I loved the color choices and went with the blue. I probably would have gone with a purple if they offered it in a brighter shade.
I do also have a CoolPix camera (S202) and since this is a review for a camera case (technically) I thought I would let you know that it also fits quite well. Perfect for simply carrying it around in your bag, on your hip, or in hand. If you put the camera in upside down with the LCD screen to the front, then you really don't need the wrist strap that the case comes with. But the camera's wrist strap does tuck nicely inside too.
While writing my review, I looked back at some others and saw a few complaints about shipping. I placed my order on 2/21 & was guaranteed to have it by 3/2. It arrived on 2/28, not bad with a holiday & weekend.

Luxuriate your camera with our sleek new Mivizu neoprene case. This case tops others in style, functionality, and durability. The water resistant neoprene material is extremely light and offers excellent protection against scratches, stains, dust, etc. The wrist strap coupled with the carabiner clip allows you to secure your camera to your arm while you snap away then clip and go. Is NOT compatible with S8000 or S8100.

I purchased a Nikon S8100 and needed a Mini C HDMI to connect the camera to my HD TV. This ABC Products cable is high quality. Worked perfectly. I have an older computer that would not play the Full HD videos, so the only way is to play straight to my HD TV.
