(More customer reviews)This is my first carbon fiber tripod, I previously owned a travel size manfrotto (Aluminum alloy). The Opteka tripod is quite sturdy and stable. The ball-head operation is smooth, and locking quite stable. The quick release mechanism is not so quick as in other tripods I have seen...you have to roate the knob, press the safety lock and then slide the plate out. That's not a big deal, as I dont intend to frequently remove/attach the camera while in the field. The bubble level is mounted on the plate where the legs attach, instead of on the camera plate. this makes it useless on uneven surfaces. It would be much useful on the camera plate itself. The quick-lock for the leg segments release without a lot of effort, yet tight enough to withstand accidental release. Once lock is released, the segments slide in and out very easily helping with quick setup and storage. The carry bag is compact and good quality as well, with a small pocket inside with supplied tools to adjust screw tightness. Took it out on a test and am happy with the purchase...as well as the cost.
